Discover the Feldenkrais Method™:

Gentle Movement for Lasting Change

The Feldenkrais Method™ is more than just moving muscles. It is a thoughtful way to help your brain learn new, healthier movement patterns that can ease pain and improve how you move.

Created by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, a scientist and martial artist, the method is based on the idea that our brains keep learning and adapting throughout life. This means old habits that cause discomfort can be changed.

connecting movement with brain function

What Makes the Feldenkrais Method Different?

Instead of focusing only on muscles or joints, the Feldenkrais Method connects movement with brain function. When you move with awareness, your brain can change how it controls your body. This helps form new, more efficient ways to move.

You can experience the method through two main options:

Functional Integration (FI): A private, hands-on session where a practitioner guides your body with gentle touch to explore better movement habits.

Awareness Through Movement (ATM): A group class with verbal instructions that lead you through slow, mindful movements to increase self-awareness.

Why Choose the Feldenkrais Method?

Sometimes our movement habits become inefficient or cause pain. These habits can be so familiar we do not notice them. The Feldenkrais Method helps make these patterns clear to your brain. When your brain realizes what feels easier, it naturally wants to move that way.

This is possible because of neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself. Dr. Feldenkrais understood this long before it was widely recognized.

About Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais

Dr. Feldenkrais combined his background in science and martial arts to develop this method in the 1950s. After a serious knee injury, he explored how movement and self-healing work. He created a system to help others retrain their brains and bodies.

He worked with many people, from children with cerebral palsy to dancers and musicians. His work changed the way we think about movement and learning.
