“Probably at least 10 years of trying a number of chiropractors and also a number of massage therapists, but not really had much success. It was a very short-term relief, but within a week or two I needed to go back and see them again because the pain was back.

I wasn’t getting at the root cause of the issues that I was dealing with. I had dealt with lower back pain for a number of years. That’s why I was trying different methods and going and seeing different people. I wanted to get to get to the bottom of it because I was feeling like I shouldn’t have chronic back pain and especially at the age that I was at, I’m like, I’m in my 20s, why do I have this chronic back pain all the time?

Fariya’s approach is, it’s very different because she may start with your feet, she may start with your head and you’re thinking, okay, well how is this connected? But of course it is connected, that’s the whole point is trying to get at the root cause and that’s when you, after a few sessions, I think that’s when I really, really did see how the Feldenkrais approach really does get at the root cause.

It’s correcting things that are the underlying issue of the problem that you’re experiencing. Four to six months of seeing Fariya, I was actually able to go on a long car ride. I wasn’t experiencing the chronic pain that I was experiencing every day at work. At work, I sit a lot, and I was able to you know, get the pain to the point where I was now coming to see, instead of seeing Fariya once a week, I was maybe seeing her once every few weeks and then slowly, you know, kind of extend it out because the results were sustainable, more long-term. During a session with Fariya, your body’s learning through that experience and that’s what you walk away with.

It teaches you things that you can practice at home on your own to kind of almost, I guess, recall the session and remind yourself of the things that you learned during the session. And then that’s when those long-term effects really do take place. You are taking control of your own health and well-being and you feel good. So yeah, I don’t have low back pain anymore.”
